Surgery Update

Justin was taken down to pre-op around 9:00 this morning. We met with the anesthesiologist, IR doc, surgeon, surgical nurse … the janitor may have stopped by, too.

For the first time, I think Justin was calmer than me. He was starting to have a ramp up in pain this morning which provided more incentive to get this ball rolling. Somehow, he was able to finagle the IR doc to place his IVC filter right before the spinal surgeon took over. Had he not, Justin would have had to have a separate procedure yesterday.

That’s all the information I have right now. I get periodic text updates that currently say “surgery is going well” but it will alert me to when they are finishing surgery and moving him to recovery. With COVID, I will not be able to see him in the recovery room and the doctor will call with all the deets.

“So they cried out to the Lord in their distress, and God saved them from their desperate circumstances. God gave the order and healed them; he rescued them from their pit. Let them thank the Lord for his faithful love and his wondrous works for all people.” Psalms 107:19-21
